Diving kingfisher photography workshop

The diving kingfisher photography course/ workshop is set up to provide you with the best opportunity to photograph action shots of this beautiful bird fishing.

The area has been set up specifically to offer repeat chances at photographing them diving with the aim of maximising your chances of getting THE shot!

This is a perfect day for photographers who want a really special image of this iconic British bird. Alongside diving you will also get the opportunity to photograph and witness other and you natural behaviour such as courtship and preening.

I offer two options for this workshop:

Hide hire only: I will meet you, provide you with an induction, help set you up and then leave you to photograph for the day. You must agree to a strict set of rules so as not to disturb the kingfishers. Fee: £150 for full day (1 person), £250 (2 people).

Hide hire and tuition
: On a 1:1 basis either Sarah Darnell or I will accompany you in the hide for seven hours. As well as providing advice and help with your photography we are also very familiar with the ecology and behaviour of these birds and will be able to assist you in getting the best shots. Fee: £200 for the day.

With all options patience is required. These are fully wild birds and therefore they may turn up once every hour or just once in the whole day. Bring a book and just enjoy watching river life pass by, other clients have photographed many other species from the hide including barn owl, kestrel, buzzard, water vole, otters, reed bunting, white throat and more. As these are fully wild birds there is no guarantee of seeing them, however on a very high percentage (97% in 2012 & 2013!) of days they will be seen at the perch.
